                      Dr.Anandi Gopal Joshi was born on 31 March 1865 ,in Pine.She was born in Brahman family.Her father's name was Ganpatraw  Amrutsar Joshi and mother's name was Gangabai Joshi . Her original name was Yamuna but after marriage it was changed to Anandi Gopal Joshi.
                       At the age of 9 Yamuna got married with Gopal Vinayak Joshi, who was 20 years alder than Yamuna I.e. Anandi  Joshi.At the age of 14 Anandi became a mother , she gave birth to a boy,but due to lack of medical services the boy died under 10 hours. This incident completely changed the life of Anandi bai and motivated her to became a Doctor. As we know at that time that mostly all religions was against the educational of women, but fortunately Mr. Gopal Joshi totally different, he supported Anandi Bai and send her to America for further studies of Doctorate.

                        4 June 1883 , Anandi bai arrived in America, she was the first Hindu woman who.visited another country. Anandi  bai studied in university of Pennsylvania. Due to hard work Anandi bai got degree of M.D. in 11march 1886.
                        In 1886 Anandi bai came back to India started working as Physician incharge  of women's ward , in a hospital named Adward Albert in kolhapur. At the age of 21on 26feb 1887 ,Anandi bai died. She was unable to provide her services to people but still she balecame a source of motivation for every women.
